Abstract

As more successful technique for the root coverage and the widening of attached gingiva, a sub-epithelial connective tissue graft was developed by Langer (1985). A man (25-year-old) and a woman (42-year-old) were treated by a modified method of Langer¢¥ s Sub-epithelial Connective tissue graft on labial denuded root surfaces of lower anterior teeth.
The following results were obtained
1. Because of the double-blood supply from both underlying connective tissue base and overlying recipient flap at the recipient site, the graft tissue was maintained with vitality on almost 100% in two cases.
2. Without keloid-like appearance, graft tissue blended with the adjacent tissue in color and texture.
3. The donor sites healed with less discomfort by primary intention healing.
4. The rugae aroa was estimated as a favorite donor site in the sub-epithelial connnective tissue graft.
5. Root coverage was attained on approximately 80% (2^(§®) in case ¥°,and 6^(§®) in case ¥±), and the zone of attached gingiva was significantly widened(3^(§®) in case ¥° , and 6^(§®) in case ¥±).
6. Comparing to horizontal-vertical incision procedure in subepithelial connective tissue graft by Langer, a wide graft tissue could be more easily obtained with direct vision by initial vertical incision before horizoantal incision.
